Selected Partners

Over the last decade and more, many Native community partners, and especially elders, have contributed essential teaching and guidance to our activities, our students, our learning, and more. While others at Pitzer work with even more individuals and elders, these are some of the key elders whom I have worked with most closely, and to whom I am deeply grateful.

Tongva Elder Julia Bogany has served as Pitzer's Elder in Residence for almost 10 years, sharing her cultural and historical knowledge and working closely with students, faculty and staff.

Thank you, Julia!

See Julia's website here.

Tongva Elder Barbara Drake, part of the Chia Cafe Collective, has for many years been teaching Pitzer students about  traditional plants and inviting them to participate in respectful relationships with these plants.

Thank you, Barbara!

Indigenous High Schools

Pitzer works with a number of American Indian or Indigenous-serving high schools, to whom we are grateful.

Anahuacalmecac Prepatoria, also known as

Semillas, is a Los Angeles school founded by

Mexican-American community members

"dedicated to student academic excellence,
Native wisdom, and appreciation of the cultural and intellectual heritage of Indigenous Peoples and the promotion of positive social awareness."
